Japan’s deep tech ecosystem has no shortage of world-class science — the harder problem is turning that science and research into commercially viable, globally competitive companies.
This session brings together three vantage points that together define how that transformation happens: government policy, academic research, and hands-on venture building. Panelists from Japan’s Cabinet Office, a leading university startup office, and SRI’s GSC Venture Build program — which works across Silicon Valley and Japan — will share how each piece of the ecosystem contributes to turning breakthrough science into globally competitive companies.
What does it take to build a deep tech pipeline that actually works, from policy to campus to market? And where is this model headed next, as it extends toward incubating deep tech for governments and investors around the world?
Bringing together national policy, academic, and venture-building perspectives, this session offers a high-level look at how Japan’s deep tech ecosystem can come together to compete on a global stage.
