Yael Maguire is VP/GM, Google Maps Platform & Google Earth. In this role, he’s responsible for leading a portfolio of geospatial products that help developers, enterprises, and cities make sustainable decisions and build powerful experiences with Google’s AI and mapping data. His team also brings sustainability features like fuel-efficient routing and air quality insights to Google Maps, which is used by more than a billion people every month.

Previously, Yael was VP of Engineering at Meta and founded Facebook’s Connectivity Lab, the technology and product team that became Meta Connectivity. Before that, Yael co-founded Plum Labs, an early stage mobile innovation lab, and ThingMagic, a market leader in bringing long-range RFID readers to the global market. Yael completed his PhD at the MIT Media Laboratory in the area of near-field electromagnetic measurement through his invention of a new type of NMR geometry for molecular detection using NMR. He also holds a master’s in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT, and an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics from Queen’s University, Canada. Yael is a named inventor on 82 patents.
